I went with the lovely Shannon to the El Rey last night to see Regina Spektor. We scored a pretty sweet table upstairs and had an awesome center stage view. The show was great, and Regina was able to take advantage of the El Rey vocally.
One of the most powerful voices I have heard in a while. She played a lot of stuff from "Soviet Kitsch" and "Mary Ann Meets the Gravediggers and Other Short Stories," but also played a few songs from one of my favorite albums of 2006, "Begin to Hope." Her new album, "Begin to Hope," comes out this June 13th, so I recommend a purchase to everyone.
On another note, preparations are now in full effect for Memphis 2006. I fly out of LAX on Friday morning and arrive in Memphis about the same time Worm and the boys get there. From there I do not know where the weekend will head. All I know is, and healthy eating is out the door on Saturday, and we embark on a full day at the largest Bar-B-Que competition in the "world" (as quoted by the events representatives). More on this as it comes in.
