Marching into a David Gray concert

So this hectic March I described several posts ago is living up to its potential.  I spent all of last week in Anaheim for the World Baseball Classic where team USA was grossly outplayed.  On Monday (USA v. Korea) Shannon and I had seats right behind home plate.  After re-watching the game I was happy to not embarrass myself, as I was on TV most of the night.  That night we saw Carson Daly at the game.  Much to my surprise he chatted me up for a quick line while I was ordering some drinks in the Diamond Club.  Him and his friends even commented on the disappointment of Chase Utley's two errors that day.  He earned some street cred in my book.

At Wednesdays game (Korea v. Japan) I was interviewed by Ellyn Pak of the Orange County Register (OC Register).  She was doing a story on Korean fan support and the rivalry between Korea and Japan.  Here is a link to that story, and my quote:   http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/local/article_1053661.php

On Thursday (USA v. Mexico) I took my friend Brianne to the game and had some mondo great front row seats.  On this day Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were at the game.  The were chilling in a Diamond Club box, and of course were the last couple on the "Kiss Cam."  I can not give any street cred to Cruise though, as recent reports have him using his 'clout' to pull re-runs of South Park's "Trapped in the Closet" which attacks Scientology and Cruise.

Last night I took Shannon to Universal City to see David Gray at the Gibson Amphitheatre.  Absolutely brilliant show.  This was a rescheduled event due to his sickness last year, and he more than made up for it.  The acoustics at the Gibson are awesome, and David Gray was able to take full advantage.  His voice sounded great, the music was great. 

I'm off to the Troubadour tonight to see Snow Patrol.  Opening for them is Gemma Hayes, who when checking my iTunes, I actually have one of her albums.  Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Snow Patrol, and of course the Troubadour itself.  To keep my pace up this week I'll be heading over to the El Rey on Thursday to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  Then maybe I'll take a breather.

Catch team USA on ESPN 2, get me in the picture

Tonight Shannon and I are heading out to Angels Stadium of Anaheim to see team USA take on Korea in the World Baseball Classic.  I was there yesterday with Jeff watching both the USA v. Japan game and Mexico v. Korea.  After seeing Korea against Mexico last night, I am looking forward to this match up.  I have pretty good seats for tonight's game, as we will be sitting in the Diamond Club, section 118 directly behind home plate.  We are in the second row so I'm fairly certain I will be seen on TV making a fool of myself.  I am so glad to be at live baseball games again.  Yesterdays game between the US and Japan was unbelievable.  The game had fall baseball drama, and it is only spring training time (technically).

So, check the game out on ESPN 2.  I do think ESPN is tape delaying the game, so you east coasters may not be able to catch this one live.  If this game is tape delayed, that is a damn shame.

Welcome to the Century Club

On another note, I guess March officially kicked off tonight.  My two roommates and myself attempted the "Century Club" tonight.  If you are unaware, the Century Club involves drinking 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes.  The basic game states doing a shot equaling 1.0 ounces, but being the drinkers we are, we abide by our shot glasses of 1.5 ounces per shot. 

I hate to call out friends, but Jeff only made it to 15 shots of beer (technically about 3 beers in 15 minutes).  Steve and I maintained and swallowed down 102-103 shots of beer in the 100 minute time frame.  I can say we were both greatly surprised with our finish, and now we both are proud members of the "Century Club."  I'm as sure as the moon that this post was tough to type, but two of us three roommates became members tonight.  Jeff is really pissed off, but I'm so drunk I guess I don't really care.

Here is to March, and to friends.  Without, it would be tough to go on.

Busy month ahead

March is going to be amazing.  I have practically each day booked.  I have a 5 day stint in Anaheim for the World Baseball Classic.  Yes, I will tentatively be at each game of the series in Anaheim.  I still have some tickets available, if interested.  I also have my last day of class for this term next Wednesday (3/8), so suffice to say I have a ton of work to catch up on and finish. 

I even have more concerts than baseball games to attend this month.  I get to start off with Youth Group at the Troubadour (3/6), and mere minutes after my class is over on Wednesday I am off to the Silent Movie Theatre for Ben Lee.  The next week sees me in Anaheim rooting on Team USA (they better advance).  The following week spring begins and I am going to see David Gray at the Gibson Amphitheatre.  The next day, a Wednesday (3/22), my new term starts.  Yes, I only got 1 week off between terms!  That night I head out to the Troubadour for Snow Patrol, followed by a Thursday stop at the El Rey for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  And for perhaps the most fitting nightcap, on March 1st I am spoiled with a Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins show at The Orpheum Theatre in downtown LA.

Wow, and to think I didn't even mention St. Patrick's day in this little blurb.  I have that night and the next day cleared on my calendar.  Anybody want to fill in the day.

With all this said, This may be the last post I drop on this blog.  I can potentially loose my friends, my room, my job, and my girlfriend this month.  All in the name of baseball.
