A great vacation lead into a pretty damn good week. Our holiday started on Saturday night at The Avalon Hollywood, seeing Stars with opening band The Elected. Absolutely awesome show. That is enough to say.
I took the lovely Shannon to Laguna Beach for 3 nights and 4 days for Valentines Day. It was also a bit of a get away for us, not making it a 'hardcore' V Day event. I landed an awesome suite style room at Arabella Laguna. This place was top notch. We had an ocean view from our front patio, and were within walking distance of the main Laguna Beach, and all the Bars, restaurants and shops in Laguna. Arabella Laguna is privately owned and operated, which is always an awesome change. Our suite had one big living room, a huge kitchen with full stov and stone marble floors (very french styled), a cozy master bedroom and an average size bathroom with full marble floors and shower walls. Each room had crown molding with either hard word or stone marble floors. I am making note of this property because the staff is wonderful. They went out of their way to put us in the lap of luxury, with no hesitation. To top it off, the other suites were empty, making for the ultimate romantic beach hideaway.
For our party time, Shannon and I hit the Laguna beaches, also spending at day at Pelican Point Beach in Crystal Cove. Spent the entire Monday at the Pelican Cove beach, checking the tide pools for signs of life, and the elusive Sea Slug.
While not perusing the tide pools, we sun bathed and picnic-ed like true beach going champions. The sunset over the Pacific was absolutely stunning on Monday night, one of the best I'd ever seen.
Other events included dining at Wahoo's Fish Taco in Huntington Beach, with sandy hair and scuffed up Reef flip-flops (yes, mine have bottle openers built into the bottom), having a few Bohemia beers. Wahoo's is almost mandatory for beach bumming tourists! Watch out though, a Wahoo's is on it's way to a strip mall near you, this place is franchising like crazy. Another evening we dined at The White House restaurant right on the Laguna strip, on the Pacific Coast Highway.
One night was spent on Balboa Island and Peninsula near Newport Beach, drinking at the bars overlooking the sea, Blackies By The Sea, in particular. Another night was spent in the arms of romance in our private beach hideaway, spouting poetic to one another while enjoying the dimming light over the Pacific streaming thorough our bedroom window.
