Last night I went with Shannon to The Troubadour to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. They were in *support* of The National. The opening band was Richard Swift. Richard Swift was actually pretty good, although I only heard about 1/2 of their set. I denoted the *in support* of The National above because Clap Your Hands Say Yeah went on last, and WERE the headliners. I didn't really get into The National that much as I was anxious to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah played for about an hour and put on a great performance. Their style and sound fit in very well at the Troubadour, and was one of the better shows I've seen there, including that of The Killers. If you don't have or haven't heard the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album yet, get it here.
After the show Shannon and I headed out to Pasadena to go to my friend Jenn's birthday bash at a bar/club called McMurphy's. My disclaimer: McMurphy's is an absolute shit hole, and not in a good way. We got there a little late due to the concert going a bit long, but we had a good time closing the night out with Jenn. Sorry for my lateness Jenn, but you got your dances in. And so did Shannon. The Clap Your Hands show put me in such a great mood I was almost able to overlook the fact that I was in one of the worst bars I've ever visited. If you are ever in Pasadena, do yourself a favor and skip this bar, go to Lucky Baldwin's instead.
Thats all for now. Shannon and I are embarking on a mini-vacation on Sunday. We are going to Vegas for 2 nights. We will be staying at Treasure Island in a Premier Tower Suite with "capTIvating panoramic views of Las Vegas." I like how they focus on the TI, marketing is special. I also like this room because it is on the top floor, and I've liked that lately.
