Partook in a little bit too much of the drink this weekend. Friday started off with a little swaray at my place with the roommates and some friends. A few of the neighbors ended up stopping by and before we knew it, our place was the place to be. It's awesome how almost everyone that was there intended to go out that night (including myself), but actually ended up staying. My thanks to Michelle for flying on those much needed beer runs.
On Saturday I went out to The Wiltern LG with Shannon, Steven, and Jason to see Kings of Leon. We has sweet Loge seats so we didn't have to stand all night and there was no one to obstruct our view. The supporting acts for the show were The Shout Out Louds and The Secret Machines. When The Shout Out Louds hit the stage I knew I was in for a great night of music.
I have been listening to Howl Howl Gaff Gaff a lot lately, so it was great to see them perform live. The Secret Machines were up next and I was completely unimpressed. I even got up and left to go hang out in the lounge because they were so awful. I would have much preferred The Shout Out Louds to have gotten their 1 hour block of playing time. Steven seemed to like the Machines, so at least it was a little worth it.
Kings of Leon came on and brought the great show back to life. They came on stage to impressive fan support, more than I am accustomed to hearing. The band lead off with "Taper Jean Girl" and kept it rolling from there. Although they were vocally off at some points and musically off at others, they put on a great show. It was a typical LA concert though. When the Kings played "The
Bucket" (their known radio song) all of the trendsters and scenesters sat down, as if they were too cool for the popular stuff.
Don't know how many times I've said this on this blog, but we ended the night at The Three Clubs for cocktails. Ended up staying past last call, then hit up a little after hours thing. Didn't hit the bed til about 6:25. The California sun was on it's way up. Looked rather awesome to tell you the truth.
Sunday saw me and Shannon resting like pure sleeping champions, and the Mets take the second of three games from the LA Dodgers. What a great weekend.
