Been a long time since I left you a post to read along to

It has been a while since I've updated my posts.  The last time was about 2 weeks ago right before The Killers concert at the Wiltern.  The show was great and my seats were even better.  I have noticed one trend when I go to shows here in LA, Jed the Fish.  He is at every show I go to, and is normally doing something like MCing or other arbitrary things.  Don't get me wrong, Jed is a great DJ and I try to catch his show as often as possible, and he normally nails the rock scene with his 'catch of the day'.  I guess I do a lot of "in" things.

On to tonight's "in" thing.  The Los Angeles Dodgers game.   I have the bomb ass Bank of America seats tonight, so I will have an impeccable view.  Shannon will be going to the game with me so it should be a great time, if the weather holds out.  The Rockies have had several postponed games due to weather this season, so they are due for a few games to go along schedule.

Not only do I have awesome seats, parking RIGHT next to the VIP entrance, and Dodger Dogs, I also get to see some of my fantasy baseball stars play.  From the Colorado Rockies I get to see rookie Phenom Clint Barmes and perennial all-star Todd Helton.  From the Dodgers I get to a see one of my newly acquired pitchers throw tonight.  Odalis Perez takes the mound for the Dodgers.  Perez was a hotly contested pick-up for me in my league, and he disappointed in his first start against the Rockies.  Yeah, a tough situation as I want Perez to shut down the Rockies, but of course I would like Helton and Barmes to knock the crap out of the ball.  Fantasy baseball and life.

Yes, I live in LA and I love baseball.  I love the NY Mets, but going to Dodgers games is a worthy replacement.  At least they are from Brooklyn.  I am still and will always be a NY Mets fan.

Killing Time

I'll be at The Killers show tonight at The Wiltern LG on Wilshire and Western (how nice).  This is my third time seeing the band lately, and I have great seats tonight.  They are playing right now but for the early birds.  I love The Killers midnight show.  Wish you were there?

a reason to like West Virginia

Lawmakers in West Virginia have made English the official language of that state.  Snuck into a bill that was passed 2 days ago, the amendment contains a proviso that claims "English shall be the official language of the State of West Virginia" (House Bill 2782).  About time we got this ball rolling.

Whoring on Sunset Strip

Normally when I'm out partying on Sunset I'm going to a rock show or hanging at The Standard or Bar Marmont, but last night I was a Sunset Strip whore.  My friend Justin was in town from NY and he wanted to party it up on the Strip, so that's what we did.  We started the night at The House of Blues Sunset, in the Foundation Room of course.  From there we went to Miyagi's to catch a few more drinks and see some more of LA's finest women.  Since we were having a great time and spending way too much time at each place we went (including too many drinks) we only hit 3 spots last night.  We ended our evening at Chi, the place that is co-owned by Justin Timberlake.  That being said, it is a very fun place, one of the few that I really enjoy on the Strip. 

The night would have been better if Dublin's was still open.  This was always a fun bar on Thursday night and had a great East Coast feel.  At Chi I was able to get a Yankee fan to bleed his true colors.  The short on this guy is that is the the chairman of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) diversity division, former FDNY guy, and Yankee season ticket holder.  He commutes to NY to go to as many games as possible.  I was able to get him to admit that when he was younger he was a Mets fan, even went to the World Series victory parade in 1986.  I wonder how many Yankee fans 'converted' simply due to the Yanks' winning.  Ah, but I digress. 

Justin chatted up this broad that was hanging with Heidi Fleiss earlier last night, and I'll leave you with Heidi's words of wisdom: "the grass is always greener, not true, cherish where you are right now, this may be better than you think..."

That's just more funny because Justin got propositioned by a fat black prostitute on the Strip last night, she wouldn't let go of his ass!

in the free time

In what little free time I've had lately I've been playing Shadow of Rome on the PlayStation 2.  It has been a while since I've thoroughly enjoyed a game as much as this.  The game-play is simple but allows advanced users the chance to take advantage of bonus Salvos (basically points).  The game is split between two players, Agrippa and Octavianus (the future Augustus Caesar),  with the formers missions involving Roman warfare as well as gladiatorial combat.  The later enjoys missions involving puzzle solving and clandestine investigations.  This game has a great cohesive feel and is enjoyable over extended periods of time.  Upon completion, the game offers a modest ending video with hints of the forthcoming sequel.  I rarely ever recommend video games to others, but this is a great video game that is very entertaining.  Buy it or rent it to burn, whatever.
