There are elections next week?

Not that I really didn't know, but I don't really feel like the elections are next Tuesday. Maybe it's the crap choices, or the choice baseball that's been on lately, but what gives? I am voting absentee this year as I am still registered in NY as a voter, so SoCal can kiss my ass. There are all these stupid ass propositions on the ballot here, like legalizing casinos for big companies (so there would be like 8 casinos in the LA/Orange County/San Bernadino County area). That's cool, but also not cool. Vegas is Vegas, lets keep it that way, and for Christ sake it's only a 55 minute plane flight away from here, and a dirt cheap flight no less. Then there is some shit about stem cell research, which is actually a big deal and could set precedent accross the country.

Enough of that rant, I must now give my congratulations to the Boston Red Sox for becoming the 2004 World Series Champions. What a team, from top to bottom. A great job shutting down the Cardinals and their bats. Not even to mention the Yankees surprise. I know the Mets will not be in contention next year (unless some important moves are made), but I look forward to another great season come April.

Happy Halloween suck asses, and good luck to BigWorm and the marauders and there exponentially superd choice of costume this year. Here's to a repeat!

It's been raining for days

It's still raining here in SoCal. Off and on but the rain has caused some pretty nasty stuff here. And that is absolutely ridiculous. RAIN, caving in roofs, causing accidents, knocking down trees, keeping people form going to work or school! This is insane. This place is a freakin joke. What a bunch of pansy asses living around LA, and this is hard to handle because most people that are here aren't even from here. They are from North Dakota, or Idaho, or some cold ass town. I am just pissed because I don't mind the rain one bit, but it seriously adds about 35-50 minutes to any commute. Absurd.

On to greater things, the ALCS has become one for the ages. I have spent so much time this past few days watching the Red Sox even the series at 3-3, after watching the Yankees pound the crap out of the Sox to take a 3-0 lead. The last two games were brilliant. Yeah of course I would love to have the Mets in the NLCS, but as a fan of baseball, this is awesome. And of course I will send out some props to the NLCS, in Mondays game each team and 1 hit heading into the ninth! What a great time for any baseball fan. I will digress as Jeff "I sucked as a Met" Kent knocked the game winning shot.

Gotta go watch the rain, it only happens about 8 days a year here, so I gotta make the most of it.

It might rain in Southern California

The eve of Friday night is upon me. It's only 5:33 and I'm already focusing on the task at hand, going out in a few hours. My roomate is once again dating a bartender. He has got to stop this trend. Of course I don't mind the free drinks that come with. But these bartenders all end up being complete bitches, or absolute morons, I'll let you decide which is worse. This one pretty cool thus far, and is very Betty Paige. Of course we will be going to her bar tonight. The bar is pretty cool, but that's not the vibe I'm feeling tonight. But it'll do anyways.

This has been an uncommonly long week, and I don't really appreciate that. I was able to catch some quality baseball though. Neither the NLCS nor the ALCS have been a let down. Although it would be sweet to see Clemens vs. the Yanks in the World Series (and Pettite although not playing), I am rooting for the Red Birds. There are some deserving players on that team. The Yanks - Sox has been awesome as expected. Close games that have come down to some critical decisions and plays.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

This weekend belonged to my friend Jenn. Or at least Saturday did. We of course celebrated her birthday proper, and where else would Jenn like to parlay than Pasadena. Personally to me it wasn't even Jenns birthday, but my own little slice of fantasy, as I was out on the town with 12 beautiful (and I really can't stress beautiful enough) women, and not one of them was my girlfriend. I was the only guy in the group, and damn it feels good to be a gangsta. I had nothing really to sidetrack me that night as LA's baseball hopes were being dashed and smashed by the Red Sox and Cardinals, and I don't give a damn about college football like all the wankers that are from here due. Who really gives a crap about UCLA or USC, all these fans didn't even go to school there. I will of course say sorry to Terry and allow him to enjoy the UCLA football games, cuz he was a freakin tight end on the team! Oh surely I should stop So Cal bashing, this was such a happy post til then. Jenns party was totally awesome and me and all the ladies really got too wasted even during after hours.

I closed the weekend with Shannon watching Shaun of the Dead in the privacy of my own bedroom. I would suggest this movie to anyone. The gore was done cleverly and most of the dialouge was absolutely brilliant. If you get a chance watch this film.

Holy crap, why was this so long. PS, can't wait to watch the Yanks vs. Sox games! Holdin down the East Coast!

Nearly the Final Straw

Last night Shannon and I went to Avalon to see Snow Patrol. The opening band was Eisley who were pretty damn good to say the least. On with Snow Patrol. Their set began rather poorly but midway through the band had put it together and it was a pretty good show. The band pulled out an awesome encore which included a cover of the Beyonce song "Crazy In Love," which set the Avalon off. At first I thought the Snow Patrol performance would be a complete bust, but they brought it together lovely.

The Angels of Anahiem lost their second game tonight, and the Dodgers of LA need to pick one up tomorrow. It's a damn shame the Mets are such a crappy team, otherwise I'd enjoy the playoffs a bit more. The funny thing is that here in LA the baseball teams harldy exist during the regular season, but now each and every radio station, tv channel, billboard, bus bench, elevator ad says some junk about the Dodger or Angels, and now everyone is wearing their baseball gear. Goes to show, of course that is LA, all show.

Comedy in Los Angeles

Tonight I went to a comedy showcase at The Comedy Store on Sunset in Hollywood. I attended this event with Shannon and I must say that the night was rather enjoyable. The show got off to a late start but that is of course the best thing for an LA crowd. I of course was not on time. Regardless, the comedy was pretty damn good, and I was overly impressed by Ian Edwards. I will not offer a link to Ian as I can't tell what is offical or not. The main attraction tonight was Tony Woods, and in my opinion he did not let the crowd down. Laughs were hard to come by during his set, but it was still entertaining, and worth another listen.

On a stranger note, I bumped into a guy I went to college with after the show. How damn bizzare. I've been in LA this long and this is the first alumni I bump into. oh the wonder.
